ART & WINE. Thunderbird Artists present the Tucson Fine Art & Wine Festival Friday through Sunday, February 27 through March 1. The Foothills Mall will be buzzing with the excitement from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with artists and art displays, wine and microbrew tastings, and live musical entertainment. Admission is free. DANCE JAM. Mat Bevel Institute. 530 N. Stone Ave. Come one and all to the Club Rhythm Dance Jam from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, February 28. This smoke-free dance infusion includes a fun mix of tunes including African, Caribbean, world music, tribal and lots of good, old-fashioned rock-and-roll. EARWORM. The Rialto Theatre. 318 E. Congress St. 740-0126. The Tucson Poet presents a spectacle of beat phraseology on Thursday and Friday, February 26 and 27. There will be readings from the works of Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and Diane De Prima, along with a little beat-jazz orchestration. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7. EURO FAIR. Park Mall. 5870 E. Broadway. The European Multi-ethnic Alliance of Tucson presents European Fair '97 on Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2. Bring the family and enjoy live music performances including songs from Italy, Hungary, Sweden and Croatia, to name a few. There will also be many different dance performances including flamenco, Irish step-dancers, Norwegian children's dances, and much more. Fair hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
HAPPY HARMONY. Sabbar Shrine Temple. 450 S. Tucson Blvd. The Tucson chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society celebrates its 50th anniversary with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 1. PEACE FAIR. The Tucson Peace Center presents Tucson's 16th annual Peace Fair from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, February 28, at the Reid Park Bandshell. Live music will be performed all day, with performances by Women Song, Northern Sonoran Didgeridoos, Radio Scientists, Linda Lou and The Drifters, Burning Water, Kissinger's Women, the Annie Hawkins Band, Sol, Spirit Union Revival and others. WALKING TOURS. The Arizona Historical Society presents Walking Tours of Historic Tucson from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, through March. Beginning at the Sosa-Carillo-Frémont House Museum, the tour canvasses more than 20 homes, sites and buildings. Cost is $4.50. Reservations are required. WAREHOUSE WALKING TOURS. Hotel Congress Lobby. 311 E. Congress St. The Tucson Arts District Partnership offers tours of the historic downtown warehouse district from 9 to 11 a.m. the second Saturday of the month, through May 1998. This expert-guided tour covers a one mile area, and includes an overview of the area's history, with brief visits to several artists' studios. Call 624-9977 for information.
