BOTANICAL GARDENS. The Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way. Regular garden attractions include: the Birds and Gardening Tour at 9 a.m. Thursday mornings; and Exploring the Tucson Botanical Gardens, an overview of TBG history and plant trivia, designed to familiarize visitors with native flora. Grounds are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular admission to the gardens is $4, $3 for seniors, and free for members and children under age 12. Call 326-9255 for information.

GARDENING DEMONSTRATION. The Pima County Cooperative Extension offers free gardening workshops every Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Extension Garden Center, 4210 N. Campbell Ave., and again at 1 p.m. at the Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road. On March 11, learn how to grow garden plants from seed. Bring in sick plants for an end-of-workshop diagnosis and treatment session. Call 626-5161 for information.

NATIVE SEEDS OPEN HOUSE. 526 N. Fourth Ave. Native Seeds/SEARCH announces their open house from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 7. Come see what you'll need for your spring garden with lots to learn and choose from including: seeds, seedlings, foods, books, crafts and gardening questions answered by NS/S gardeners. Also, ask about the NS/S gardening workshops continuing through March 14. Call 622-5561 for information.

PERMACULTURE BREAKFAST. The Permaculture Drylands Institute wants to teach you about sustainable living in drylands. They meet the second Tuesday of each month for a community breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Congress Grill, 100 E. Congress St. Call 744-9305 for information.

PLANT SALE. Tohono Chul Park. 7366 N. Paseo del Norte. Get your garden in planting condition with a jump-start from the Tohono Chul Park Spring Plant Sale, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 7 and 8. You'll find lots of desert-friendly plants, trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Call 742-6455 for information.
