Metro Pulse Psychic Movie Predictions

JULY 26, 1999:

DROP DEAD GORGEOUS (PG-13)
Corn-fed girls from the heartland (played by hot young stars Denise Richards and Kirsten Dunst) compete in the knock-down, drag-out, wickedly-funny world of a small town beauty pageant. And we all learn that girls can play even more down and dirty than the boys can. Big surprise.
Prediction: Honestly, this movie should be a scream—if you also found humor in The War of the Roses, which the Guru absolutely loved. If mean-spirited black comedies leave you cold, stay home and read Martha Stewart Living.
Probable Entertainment Value: A

THE HAUNTING (PG-13)
Shirley Jackson's book comes to life in this story about a very haunted house and the people (Liam Neeson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Lili Taylor) who spend the night in it. They're visited by ghosts, bumps in the night, and all of the special effects Jan De Bont (Speed) could throw at them.
Prediction: How scary can it be if it's PG-13?
Probable Entertainment Value: C

INSPECTOR GADGET (PG)
Much beloved cartoon comes to life, with Matthew Broderick as the gadgeted one.
Prediction: Kids will love it—and so will adults who remember watching the show as a tyke. Plus, it gives us all a good excuse to annoy our co-workers by constantly humming the theme song.
Probable Entertainment Value: B
